Freshman linebacker Kash Daniel is making a good impression during his first spring practice at Kentucky.

“Kash is very mature. He’s learning quickly for someone who is supposed to be a high school senior,” said defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot after Saturday’s scrimmage.

Daniel graduated from Paintsville High School in December so he could enroll early at UK. He was the state’s Mr. Football, Gatorade Player of the Year and Paul Hornung Award winner.

I read an interview of the great Bear Bryant who coached at Kentucky. He said he would take an extra QB and find a position for him to play because they were great football players. He said there were a lot of QBs that played that position, because they couldn't find anyone else and that they could play any number of positions.

It worked for him. Of course, UK already had Daniels penciled in at LB when they recruited him.
