We are starting to get more talent in our recruits.
Young made the biggest move at the position — vaulting eight spots — and is now ranked as the No. 5 offensive tackle in the class of 2016. The Lexington native committed to UK more than two years ago and has decided not to take any recruiting visits despite scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State and several others.
Kentucky already has 22 commitments for the class of 2016. Here’s a look at the other future Wildcats included in the new Rivals.com position rankings: Asim Rose (No. 25 RB), Drake Jackson (No. 3 center), Kobe Smith (No. 32 DT), Kordell Looney (No. 46 DT), Roland Walder (No. 41 OLB), Kash Daniel (No. 14 ILB), Jordan Griffin (No. 34 CB) and Tobias Gilliam (No. 55 CB).
It’s worth noting that Daniel is the highest-ranked three-star inside linebacker in the class, meaning he could be on the cusp of four-star status. Griffin and Smith join Daniel with “5.7” ratings, which is the highest three-star status in the Rivals ranking system.
Young, Jackson and fellow offensive lineman Tate Leavitt are UK’s four-star commitments. Leavitt is not eligible to be ranked at his position because he is a junior college player.
