That should be music to our ears and hope we can keep it up!

I felt like it was the most consistent week we've had in a while with all the things we're doing," Stoops said. "The practices, what we're doing off the field, just with the accountability and dependability of our guys, whether it be academically and taking care of their business. I felt like we had a good week."

The good week culminated with a scrimmage on Saturday open to the public. In front of a big crowd at the Tim Couch Practice Fields and with perfect weather, UK had a competitive session of a little more than 90 minutes.

"The scrimmage today, overall was pleased," Stoops said. "Obviously it's not always pretty. We're a little watered down. I wish we could get it more at full strength at certain positions, but you still see the progress. I thought offensively they moved the ball some, and defensively came up with some stops and big plays at times."

The big plays weren't limited to the defensive side of the ball.

Whether Patrick Towles or Drew Barker was leading the offense, it was clear the vertical passing game is a priority under new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. Towles hit a pair of deep balls, one to Blake Bone for 47 yards another to Thaddeus Snodgrass for 50 yards.

"You gotta be able to throw the ball vertical," Towles said. "You gotta be able to stretch them when they're stacking the box in this league and there was times last year we just couldn't do that. We either didn't have the personnel or didn't make a good throw, but that's definitely an emphasis of Coach Dawson's offense."

Funny, without reading or seeing this topic, I just stated that UK had to pass the ball down the field to be successful in another topic.

I got a huge smile on my face just seeing the Topic and then when I read that it was a huge part of the scrimmage and Dawson's offensive plan, my smile grew even larger.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

I was much too busy to attend the scrimmage. Wish I could have attended. Yes, the report is positive. Never hear much bad at this time of year. I am hoping to see better execution from the offense, this year. I read that there was multiple people calling in the plays to different players on O and now it all goes through the QB. Well hell fire! Maybe there were times that the players were on different plays and that could be reason they didn't execute? I can't wait to see them against an opponent. Go Cats!
