It was a better season and we won 5 games which we haven't done in a number of years and we still have a decent chance to beat Louisville and go to a bowl. We started the season with a couple of wins against 2 very small schools that don't have what you would call football reputations but in the 3rd game the Cats played their hearts out against Florida and lost in waning minutes of the game. Florida as it turns out was not the team of the past but ended up in the middle of the pack in the SEC conference.(still a decent game) The next two game were wins against conference foes Vandy and South Carolina, Vandy honestly was not a good team and South Carolina was not the team it has been in the past but still a decent win. The last 5 games were against the better SEC teams and we lost all of them by large margins and we looked like Kentucky teams of the past.
The game against Louisville is a chance for a little bit of redemption and if we win it will be a good season with big expectations for the future and if we lose, well we always have next season.
The good thing about Kentucky football is the fans and even though we get down at times but we always are looking for that little ray of sunshine and when we see it we become special and that is good. We all know there is always next season. Go Cats

Fool's gold? Not to this fan.
We went from 4 wins over the last two seasons combined to five this year, plus the potential for six. Who predicted that?
We went from zero SEC wins to two, and almost three. Who predicted THAT?
I see solid progress. This isn't something that changes in one or two seasons, but at UK, it DID change in two seasons. I look forward to seeing UK in a couple of years.

I think we're all tasting the bitterness of being hopeful. We won several games early giving us hope that maybe we've already turned the corner until we faced the meat of our schedule where we faced some of the best teams not only in our conference but in all of the country. We gave Miss St. a great game and looked like we might be ready to win a game against a higher ranked opponent. It just hasn't happened YET. It will. But now yet.

We just need more depth. If a player goes down we don't have the back-up strength to replace our starters with and until we do we will have problems.

Oh, I've saida for a few years now that if we were just playing 11 on 11 we'd be pretty strong. It's when teams like Ga, and MSU bring in their backups and never miss a beat!

This is where recruiting will help. We need to keep recruiting 4 star and a occasional 5 star player to build our quality of our bench. Players get hurt and you have to replace them with talented players. We have not had that luxury in years.

Recruiting makes a huge difference. But we get 3 and 4 star players while State, Bama, GA and the like get multiple 5 Star talent!

Our big problem is that all the other SEC teams with exception of Vandy get players from states like Florida, Georgia and Texas where the better football talent is. If you check the past few years we have been getting better players but still not even close to the better SEC teams. Until we can get talent as good as SEC rivals it really doesn't matter who our coach is. imo
“In the less than two years that Stoops has led the program, 15 players in the state of Kentucky who are considered top-five prospects by Rivals.com have announced commitments. Eleven of those players have chosen the Wildcats, while two have picked Louisville and two have committed to out-of-state schools.
UK landed commitments from four of the top five in-state players for the class of 2014, the first time that had happened since Rivals.com started publishing state-by-state rankings in 2003.”
