Jabari has been a pleasant surprise for Stoops and the Cats.
The play of Jabari Johnson the last two weeks — against the two best teams Kentucky has played — has been nothing short of remarkable after he was barely used the first six games.
“I think it’s a great story for a guy like Jabari. A year ago when we first got here and through last year trying to find the right spot for him, and he just hung in there and continues to work and he always has a great attitude,” Stoops said Monday. “We felt like, as I said, a couple times, I felt like we needed to get bigger at certain spots, certainly against these last two opponents.
“He gave us some size and he’s really doing some good things and, again, I just love his attitude and work ethic. It’s what we’re looking for in this team in an older guy that continues to work and put his head down and do the best he can to help his team and he’s really making some good plays.”
