We will need a lot from them if we expect any chance of winning against the Gators.
Will running back Braylon Heard and/or receiver Javess Blue play Saturday at Florida?
“They were out there a little bit, so we’ll see,” Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said after practice Thursday. “Yeah, they’re going to make the trip. We’ll get something out of them.”
But just what will they get? Kentucky needs a healthy Herd, a game-breaking runner, and Blue, its leading receiver last year, not only able to play but to give more than “something” against the Gators. Both have sore ankles that kept them from playing last week.
Offensive guard Zach West will miss his second straight game with a neck injury. That means walk-on Cole Mosier will get his second straight start.
“Zach’s not going to play. He hasn’t practiced all week,” Stoops said.
Kentucky had trouble protecting quarterback Patrick Towles last week against Ohio. That’s been a point of emphasis in practice this week.
“We’ve got to play well. We’ve got to do what we do and that’s get rid of the football quick when we can, make good decisions. We’ve got to protect and have all 11 guys on the same page, so. We’ve worked hard and we’ll go down there and they’ll play well,” Stoops said.
