Is there anything I need to do while I'm here. Any protests that I should get involved in?

J/K I'm spending most of the day in Arlington. This is the first time I've ever been here so wish me safety! We actually drove over to Arlington today just to figure out how to get there . Then we are taking a bus over into DC to visit the memorials.

Make sure you see "Ford's Theater" - imo that is a "must" to see where President Lincoln was shot. It is close to the FBI hqs so easy to get to.

I almost forgot don't forget the "Vietnam wall" as it is located close to the Lincoln Memorial and just down from the State Dept (where I worked). Just across the bridge from Arlington.

A moving experience reading the names!

And the Korean War Memorial is just across from the VN Memorial. He won't be there anymore but Bob Dole used to sit in the shade near an entrance to the WWII Memorial which is just a little further down near the Washington Monument. Over on the side with Arlington is the Marine Corps Memorial and the Air Force Memorial. Just too many to name them all. I've been there a half dozen times and got a chance to visit almost all of them.

The Smithsonian museums are great. I love the Air and Space museum, and the "annex" which way out by Dulles airport. The American History museum is also full of great stuff.

A tour of the capital is nice, but hey, be careful. You might get arrested for insurrection.

We started our day at Arlington. Witnessed a funeral un the plot just below Kennedy's Eternal flame spot. Very humbling when they played Taps! Very impressive changing of the guard at Tomb of Unknown Soldier!

In DC we visited Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, Took a tour bus around the entire town. Plans for Washington tomorrow. I wanted to visit the Holocaust but it closed on Wed. for Yom Kippur. Might visit the White House tomorrow and give Brandon a piece of my mind! J/K I have to come home at the end of the week! Thursday we're going to Mt. Vernon.

We stopped and spent a day at Monticello on our way to DC>

The Air and Space Museum is temp closed. I guess they're doing construction on the building.

Went up in the Washington Monument today. Amazing views from up there. We stopped and visited the Jefferson Memorial.

Went to the Ford Theater very interesting. I always enjoy sitting in on question answer sessions between the National Park Guides and the school aged kids who are brave enough to ask questions. Always learn a lot from other's questions as well!

Stopped at the white house and ended our day there!

Sounds like you had a great visit and saw a lot. I have been to every place you mentioned but the White House. Didn't seem to even think about that. Stayed right down there among all that at the Holiday Inn twice when we went for free with the Farm Bureau Insurance group. Sure glad I didn't have to look for a parking spot. One time I went there for a meeting at Ft. Belvoir and we stayed at a motel near there and caught the underground in to DC.

Went off the beaten path a little today and visited Fort Washington and Fort Ward today! Interesting looking at the layout of military forts from yesteryear and how they had them set up to protect the area surrounding them!

Both forts were designed to protect DC. Very intriguing!
