.... or banned by the woke speaking heads !!! Even though what they are spewing for the reason is false !!!
So tired of these big corporations attacking anyone and everyone they disagree with (well except China, they dont hod them accountable for anything), just because someone says they did something wrong without checking facts.

MLB started it by pulling the all-star game and the draft from Georgia. Why? Because Georgia voted to require a photo ID for voting.

The thought, never expressed, is that blacks are too stupid to get a photo ID. But, if you don't have one, you can't drive, you can't get on a plane, you can't cash a check, you can't get a loan... in essence, without a photo ID (which, by the way, is FREE), you can't live.

If requiring a photo ID is denying someone the right to vote, is requiring a photo ID to buy a gun denying us our 2nd amendment rights?

Now, in addition to MLB, Atlanta-based corporations Coka Cola and Delta Airlines have joined in the fray. Ridiculous.

I will not fly Delta ever again.

I agree Tip .... I won't fly Delta (not that I fly much). I won't drink a coke or coke product. I won't be watching mlb and I am a huge Yankee fan but I won't watch them (like they care). I did read where mlb just signed a contract with a Chinese company (Tennet I think) and we all know how much Cna cares about human rights !!!

Decided today to do my part. I "boycotted" Coca Cola by opting for an unsweetened tea instead of my usual Diet Coke at McDonalds. [Smile]

IMO, MLB and Coke did this because they thought it would help the bottom line at sometime in their future. Big businesses rarely do anything without taking that into consideration. I think it’s a mistake on their part. It’s just another example of the “woke” society we are moving toward.

However, I do have a question. Does anybody think the election laws in Georgia would have been changed if Donald Trump had won the state?

IMO, politicians in Georgia are just as disingenuous as MLB or Coco Cola. Nobody is doing this for moral reasons. Politicians changed this law because they believed it will placate their constituents. MLB and Coke are doing what they think is best for their business.

Another unpopular opinion presented to you by handycat.

I haven’t watched a MLB game for over 30 years and won’t this year. I will also give up the two (maybe) cokes I drink a year.

Handy,

I think that whether or not Trump won Georgia, the stench of election fraud and unconstitutional changes to election laws would still result in the wave of 'reform' (which is really just adding common sense to existing laws), not only in Georgia, but across the country.

What happened was shameful, and a stain on our country. Of course, the democrats want more of the same.

As to Coca Cola doing what is best for their bottom line, I submit that if they think that is the case, they grossly miscalculated. If they took a position either way, they would alienate half of the country. The way to protect their bottom line would have been to do what they should have done -- stayed clear of the fray. It is not Coca Cola's (or Delta's, or MLB's) place to try to influence legislatures in the public sphere.

But, they were not given the chance. BLM "allies" were very forceful in pushing for companies to take action. And, apparently, successful.

Once again, I have to ask the simple question. How is requiring someone to show proof that they are who they claim to be infringing on their right to vote? The only thing it "infringes" upon is the fraud that was perpetrated in the last election.

It’s not. I have no problem with voter ID. I also agree with most of your post.

Where we disagree is fraud being the determining factor in the last election and the motive of changing election laws.

Well I've said this once before on social media, the state in which I reside already requires photo ID in order to vote. So count me backwards or behind the times when I say that until the stories broke about people not wanting to require ID's to vote that I didn't know they weren't already required.

I don't see how it's racist?!?!? Have you ever heard a black person cry foul when they are required to show an ID in order to buy alcohol?

I was required a photo ID in order to reserve a hotel room on Friday night! I didn't cry foul, I just pulled it out! I guess what I'm getting at is if it is legally required for certain things then what's the difference in having to show it to VOTE?

The issues with the GA voter law recently passed is not just Voter ID. The biggest thing they are complaining about is state power and oversite of the county election boards and reduction in number of early voting days, days to request and cast absentee ballots, and number of drop boxes for absentee ballots.

However, with all that said, we have an organization in New York, a state with more restrictive voting laws than GA, pulling their business out of GA, while the commissioner of said organization holds private membership at Augusta National.

What we have here is pure hypocrisy and knee jerk political activism.

Sports is supposed to unite not divide. A sporting event is where democrats, republicans, Catholics, protestants, Muslims, blacks, whites, Asians, native peoples, etc. can all come together and find common ground in rooting for their team. Not any more!! The use of team sports as a platform for political protest is ruining the experience.

Texas Governor Abbott sent the Texas Rangers a letter saying that he would not throw out the cermonial first pitch this year and while he hoped the Rangers did well he would not be apart of what mlb did.

Walk up to the will-call ticket window at any MLB stadium and see if you can get tickets without having to show your id. I think we all know the answer to that.

Great point PC.
Yeah it is amazing how we have to have an ID for almost everything like fishing license, driver's license, room at a hotel, to get on a plane, the list goes on and on !!!

Ga Cat,

All of those 'complaints' need some perspective.
Before the last election, there were ZERO drop-boxes. There will now be some, just not as many as this year.

As to fewer days to vote, I think that is murky. They now have voting open on Sundays and holidays (it was not open on those days before).

I really think the whole opposition to this is ridiculous and shows no evidence of serious thought. Its just "RACISM! RACISM! RACISM!"

Don't misunderstand me. I agree with you completely. I just think we need to be realistic. There complaints are not just about the id component of the law.

Further, the ABC affiliate published a story this evening saying the mayor of Atlanta issued an executive order to offset the voter restrictions in the new law. When you read the story, you find out that all the mayor did was mandate training for election officials and put in place programs to educate the voting public on how to get an id and how to vote. I mean, honestly, this is not offsetting the law! This is doing your job!! She did not offset the new law, she just put in place programs to help people comply with the law. Isn't that what she is supposed to do?

An you are correct, this law is the first to actually mandate drop boxes. It is the first to mandate early voting in all counties. Is the first law to mandate polls be open on weekends in every county. Yes, some counties may have had more days that this law allows, but some counties had no early voting. This law makes early voting consistent.

In the GA law, nobody has to mail in a copy of an ID to vote. Simply right down the number. Guess what? In Colorado, you have to mail in a copy of your id when you vote by mail the first time. So, arguably, the laws in Colorado are more restrictive than GA, but they get the allstar game. Makes no sense.

Oh, the irony of liberal thinking. Move an All Star game from a city that is 51% black to a city that is 9% black. 100 million dollars in revenue gone for folks that could have used it after the revenue lost because of the pandemic.

mlb commissioner Rob Manfred has a membership at the Master's. I wonder if he will give that up since it is in the state of Gerogia ?!?!? Total hypocrisy from him and mlb !!!
Guess everyone heard about Florida Governor DeSantis and the 60 minute debacle !!! 60 minutes conveniently left of parts of the interview with DeSantis because it didn't go with their narative and will not even apoligize or say they were wrong even though it has beeen brought out into the open. I so hope DeSantic sues them !!! They along with so many other reporters are lying to us the American people if it doesn't fit their narative.

Hannity says he refuses to ever do another interview with one of these liberal media giants because they edit the interview with sound bites to fit their narrative! 60 minutes did that too him a few years back!

Our wonderful governor in Colorado has already said that the mlb all star game will be a sell out. Hmmmm it is amazing how for over a year now we have lost our constitutional rights but now that Colorado could see well over a hundred million in profit from the all star game covid is miraculously going to disappear come July !!! Damn, if we had known it would disappear because of a 100 million dollars we as a nation should have all pitched in a year ago !!!
