This is no surprise. Silicon Valley is extremely liberal, and Google has exhibited hostility to conservatives before. But, this is actually the intent of the "Citizens United" decision by the Supreme Court. From the Wikipedia entry for that decision

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizens_United_v._FEC

We get this:

quote:
n a majority opinion joined by four other justices, Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy held that the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act's prohibition of all independent expenditures by corporations and unions violated the First Amendment's protection of free speech. The Court overruled Austin v. Michigan Chamber of Commerce (1990), which had allowed different restrictions on speech-related spending based on corporate identity, as well as a portion of McConnell v. FEC (2003) that had restricted corporate spending on electioneering communications. The ruling effectively freed corporations to spend money on electioneering communications and to directly advocate for the election or defeat of candidates. In his dissenting opinion, Associate Justice John Paul Stevens argued that Court's ruling represented "a rejection of the common sense of the American people, who have recognized a need to prevent corporations from undermining self government."
Certainly one of the most under-appreciated decisions with catastrophic results. The Left originally hated the idea, thinking that Big Capitalists would flood the RNC with money, but in fact, Big Tech has flooded the DNC. The problem is that Big Tech not only has massive amounts of cash, but can use their ubiquitous technology platforms to control what we mere mortals can see.

We had the thread about the Koch brothers, who are wealthy libertarians whose agenda doesn't always map to conservativism. But their wealth is almost entirely tied up in Koch Industries, which is a huge private company. Being private, that money is not very "liquid"; i.e., they can't spend it.

Contrast that to the Silicon Valley billionaires, almost ALL of whom are progressives, and whose wealth is in the form of stock in their public companies...which is as liquid as cash. They can sell some shares and donate unlimited amounts of money to their political party. Check out this list:

Facebook has been censoring conservative voices, and Google has been using AI to "shift" search results to fit the narrative. Both of those companies have vast oceans of data about each of us, and have us pegged as to our political affiliations. What will they do with that data? You can be sure that it will not be what you or I consider "fair".

Oh, by the way, you don't need to be using Google Search or Gmail for Google to determine your political views. Google uses internet "spiders" to crawl unprotected webpages like this one, and to collect and categorize everything we write here.

Just sayin'

Also, FYI, I have had posts deleted by Facebook on the grounds that they may be offensive. The subject matter? How to teach children about investing.

I kid you not. It just won't do to have more little capitalists around!

Google took the video down from You tube that exposed Google executive saying that their algorithms will stop Trump.
