It does not feel the national media agenda!!

A police officer saved many lives at an Illinois high school when he shot a former student who opened fire on campus, say authorities.

Officials say Dixon police officer Mark Dallas exchanged gunfire with the unidentified 19-year-old suspect, who was previously expelled.

Neither the officer nor any students were hurt in Wednesday morning's confrontation at Dixon High School.

The suspect was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There are so many untold stories of how firearms are used to protect homes, deter crime, and prevent atrocities. They only make it onto the pages of the NRA or other gun-friendly groups. They NEVER make it to the news.

Why? Because we focus on the negative, the sensational, the tragic. This really SHOULD be sensational news, but it will be left on the cutting room floor. This is where the subtle power of the news editor comes in. The person or persons who decide what goes on the air, or in print, sift through all the possibilities and use their own biases influence their choices. Guns save lives? Nope, that isn't news!

I live in Illinois and we did get coverage of this but not near to the extent of other school shootings. Was it because of the liberal news media or because there was no loss of life? I suspect a little of both.

One thing is for sure, the man was a hero and I don't use that word lightly.

To me, this proves that having trained armed officers in our schools saves life's. It obviously doesn't completely solve the problem as they had two armed officers on site in the Texas school shooting. There probably would have been more life's taken without these two officers being on site.
