Kentucky got its first commitment from a point guard on Wednesday, adding five-star prospect TyTy Washington to its 2021 recruiting class, which also includes five-star forward Daimion Collins and four-star forward Bryce Hopkins.
But could the Wildcats add another lead guard on Friday?
Leading up to Washington’s commitment on Wednesday, David Sisk of Cats Illustrated broke the news that Georgia guard transfer Sahvir Wheeler was set to announce his final decision “within the next 48 hours.” Sitting here on Friday morning, we’re now officially within hours of that unofficial announcement deadline.
Just told by an individual very close to Sahvir Wheeler that he will announce “within the next 48 hours.” May not happen today after all. On the bright side, Ty Ty Washington to announce at 9 EST tonight.
When asked about an official commitment date, Wheeler told KSR on Wednesday that nothing was finalized, though rumblings continue to grow louder that we’re inching closer to an announcement. And more importantly, Kentucky continues to be discussed as the favorite to land the second-team All-SEC member, who led the conference in both assists (7.4 APG) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.68).
