With the departure of former Kentucky Wildcats assistant Joel Justus to Arizona State, that left a big question mark as to what the future holds for Kentucky’s lone 2022 commit, Skyy Clark.

Clark was a Justus recruit and had built a solid relationship with the now Sun Devils assistant, that there was some worry as to whether Clark would decommit from Kentucky with Justus no longer there.

Clark’s father, Kenny Clark, spoke with Kentucky Sports Radio on the matter.

“It just picked back up. Coach Chin and Coach O, they’re hitting us up like every day. It’s going great,” Clark said. “… They’re great dudes. Great energy, funny, great personalities.”

Assistant coaches Orlando Antigua and Chin Coleman have picked up recruiting and building that relationship back with Skyy Clark, according to his father. John Calipari is still in regular contact with Skyy, texting him just last Saturday.

Kenny Clark also told KSR that any reports or thoughts of his son possibly decommitting are not true. With TyTy Washington possibly being one and done while Kentucky potentially adds a transfer point guard who may be a one-year guy as well, the 2022-23 backcourt could be Clark’s to take over as soon as he arrives on campus.

Keeping Skyy Clark committed for 2022 might be the biggest recruiting win for the Class of 2022 If the new assistants can pull it off.

While Kentucky hopes Clark remains committed, he did just find a new high school to play his senior season at. On Wednesday, SI’s Jason Jordan reported that Clark would play next season at Montverde Academy. He previously played at Ensworth High School in Nashville (TN) before opting out of his junior season back in January due to COVID-19.

Montverde, located in Florida, is one of the top prep schools in American and routinely produces five-star recruits and future NBA Draft picks.
