Good News imo

Will Ron “Chin” Coleman join Orlando Antigua at Kentucky? The Illinois assistant is currently mulling his options, according to a new report.

Last night, the news that Antigua will leave Illinois to rejoin Kentucky’s staff finally surfaced, prompting speculation that Coleman will come with him. With Joel Justus taking the top assistant job at Arizona State and Tony Barbee taking the head coaching job at Central Michigan, there are two vacancies on the bench (in addition to a graduate assistant position for Brad Calipari). From everything we’ve heard, Antigua is back, but there are varying reports on Coleman. CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander tweeted that UK is expected to add both Antigua and Coleman in the coming days, but IlliniNow/SI’s Matthew Stevens is reporting that Coleman is still evaluating his options, which aren’t only limited to Champaign or Lexington.

However, sources close to the situation have told Illini Now/SI on Thursday that Coleman is still evaluating several career options that include staying at Illinois, taking a position at Kentucky and considering another possible offer from an elite Power 5 Conference program.

Coleman has been a member of Brad Underwood’s staff at Illinois since April 2017, working with guards and using his grassroots connections in recruiting. Most notably, he helped bring in and develop elite Chicago point guard Ayo Dosunmu. Prior to joining the collegiate ranks as an assistant at Colorado State in 2011, Coleman coached Mac Irvin Fire, one of the top AAU program in the country, for six years. He was the lead recruiter for Adam Miller, the Illinois transfer currently considering Kentucky.

This video of Coleman going off on Iowa coach Fran McCaffery back in 2020 is reason alone to open up the checkbook and reel him in:
