One of if not the best player on the floor most of the season for the Kentucky Wildcats has been graduate transfer Davion Mintz.

Over the past few weeks, a lot of speculation has been around Mintz and the possibility that he would take advantage of the extra year from the NCAA and return to Kentucky next season.

On Tuesday, Mintz spoke with the media about coming to Lexington being the best decision he ever made.

“It’s the best decision I ever made still,” Mintz said of coming to Kentucky. “And, I’ve been running my marathon and I’ve been chasing my dreams for years. And coming to Kentucky, I knew that a place like this would get me exactly where I need to go at the next level.

“I don’t know how long that will be. I don’t know what’s my plan, my path, what’s best for me, and that’s what I have to evaluate at the end of the season with coaches and my family.”

Mintz is not a NBA point guard, and at 6-3, he is a tad short to be a 2-guard.

If he wants to finish his marathon, another year in Lexington would be far better than going undrafted or wallowing in the G-league.

I would have to agree. He needs one more year to complete what would probably be a Masters degree and that should be what his top priority is right now. Not being an automatic draft pick he needs all the education he needs for the future. Surely he'll see it that way too.
