Despite winning two straight games, Kentucky still sits at 7-13 over and and 6-7 in conference play in the 2020-21 season. The Wildcats have had their fair share of issues, and one anonymous coach has sounded off on what those are.
With a handful of big-name college basketball programs struggling this year, Yahoo Sports spoke to some opposing coaches of those teams to get a feel for what has been going wrong. When it comes to Kentucky, the anonymous opposing coach laid out a laundry list of problems — one of which was a lack of veteran leadership on a young team.
“Chemistry has been a major issue,” the anonymous coach said. “The team was put together really poorly. There’s no spacing, awful shooting, the point guard can’t get by anyone and there’s no leadership.”

Can't argue with that, but things seem to get better. Our spacing is better, we are setting better screens and picks, and our shooting is greatly improved.
Still have a point guard with no ability to penetrate, and leadership seems missing.

You mentioned point guard play, Tiptree. Askew is absolutely the worst I've seen in a long time. I wish cal would bench him and play Mintz at the point.

He is sitting him for some short stints but he is still playing too much. He is flying down the court out of control or he is slowly walking the ball up court. He makes 2 or 3 bad plays in a row and it kills everything we have just accomplished. I hope Hickman can come in and take charge next year.
