I read that Fletcher left the bench due to his lack of playing time. He will be gone soon enough in my mind.

Wife's Mad. Told me we never talk anymore. And just last nite while watching super bowl told her 2 or 3 times to get me a coke and popcorn. Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Cal has his hands full.

I disagree with Trey. I think these guys have latent talent, but they don't have a clue how to be team players, nor are they acclimated to the huge difference in speed and talent of top-tier college players. That will come.

My biggest worry is not that we don't have talent, nor that these guys won't meld into a competitive college team by February. My biggest worry is one or more of these prima-donnas will take their egos elsewhere.

Fletcher has slipped behind Ware in the rotation, so I am sure he isn't happy. Hell, NOBODY on this team should be happy right now. But if they stick to it, listen and learn from the coaches, they can get better.

Askew was very enthusiastic in an interview about learning from Cal. And his game today was better than any other outing. He IS getting better. Boston played better today too. Mintz had an outstanding game. Ware and Fletcher played well, and thank God they did, because Sarr and Jackson were practically useless.

Basics. Things like spacing, moving without the ball in a way that your teammates can predict. Big men posting up and pinning the defender, spreading out and presenting themselves for the entry pass. Setting picks and screens without throwing a hip into the opponent. Playing positional defense so you don't have to foul every time.

We will learn. Already, I see a tremendous improvement in our passing -- much crisper, not so telegraphed, and the receivers are moving to the ball. Not so many floor errors (other than stupid fouls). There is not way Cal and his staff can fix all that ails this team in a week. But, one issue at a time, we should see progress. I just wish we didn't have such a murderous schedule that these kids must take on.

But, outside of basketball basics, Cal must be mindful of the mindset of these players. If Fletcher is upset, Cal must deal with it. And, he usually does. I hope Fletcher decides to stick it out, but honestly, it depends more on his 'inner circle' of advisors than anything else. If they urge him to move on, I am sure he will.

One of the problems with this team is there aren't enough basketballs in play at the same time. We have too many ego players who all want to do nothing more than showcase their talent.

Tip,

We will have to disagree on the talent level of this team. I don’t see it. In my opinion, Jackson is the only one and done type talent in the group. When I say talent I’m talking 1st Tound NBA talent.

Are Askew, Clarke, Boston, Ware, etc talented enough to be good college players as Juniors and Seniors? That I would agree with, but we know they will not be here for those years.
