Richmond is a good, experienced team. We were way too sloppy with the ball and too slow to react on defense. Not to mention we missed 10+ free throws. Offense appears to be discombobulated. Looks like something you’d see on the playground. Better play better Tuesday or it’ll be even worse.

with all the shots we missed i kept looking for him to put allen---he just might have hit a couple of threes---and his defence could not have been any worse [ 11-29-2020, 03:19 PM: Message edited by: country cat ]

That's not the half of it! Does anyone realize that this great shooting team of #1 recruits just broke that long stream of years of not having a game without making a 3??? Yeah, the only 3 to go in was the one that Clarke made that they called him for taking steps. Looks like this team can fall apart at the stroke of a second. They did a complete collapse. We missed a lot of free throws and we played a lot of no defense at times. There's a lot of lessons to be learned and I'm afraid they can't learn them by Tuesday. They seemed to have no desire to take a 3 point shot after the first quarter of the game. Did Cal tell them to take it to the center and not try 3's? Who knows. Maybe this is why TN is picked to win the SEC??

I was very wary of the Spiders. Veteran 20-win team, picked to win their conference again this year. Richmond has a history of being a giant-killer.
Cal really doesn't have much to do yet. I doubt very seriously that they have worked much on offense; he always starts with defense. That was atrocious, to be sure, but our guys just showed their youth today.

\I turned the game off before the 1st half was over. I have been listening/watching Ky for almost 70 yrs and I know when they will lose (maybe before they do). Turned it off and just now turned the radio on and of course they lost.
They look lazy with little organization, and that is on the coach. They have been together long enough to be better that that with the talent they have.
They will get better, but FF - doubt it and Cal will talk all yr how "young they are"..

You can't win in Men's College Basketball today only attempting 10 three pointers in a game. To this day, I still say that is what cost UK the perfect season in 2014-15 and UK had 3 pointer shooters on that team and what they only took 5 or 6 against Wisconsin.
A team like Kentucky should be shooting 25 threes per game. It would open the floor for drives and post. Instead UK doesn't space the floor and it allows "hands" to be everywhere on drives.

Also told her not to forget to take out trash in the morning. Ain't that something. Also told me I was too indecisive. Can't figure out what to do about that. One nice thing I guess. She called me a pro crastinator. Don't know what a crastinator is but I guess I'm a good one for her to call me a pro. Gonna wait til tomorrow to look that up though. I love her but somrtimes can't help but thinking I should have told uncle Junior to keep his coon hound pup and stevens double barrel and also his youngest daughter.

Most telling stat was ZERO assists in the 2nd half and only FIVE for the entire game. That is selfish basketball and it won’t win many games, especially against good teams.

I always love Bruce's optimism, but many times I wonder if he's feverish. I guess I'm too much of a realist!

Uhh, do you think this could have been part of the problem today???
"""We have to become a little bit more unselfish on the offensive end," Justus said in the press conference. Kentucky did not have an assist in the entire second half of play."""
Also part of it was we couldn't make a shot during a long streak.

Free throws and hitting no three's will lose you a lot of games. We can say what we want but if you don't hit a three every once in a while, it's like thinking as a football team you can run on first second a third down and expect to continue to move the ball. You have to go vertical with the football from time to time in order to keep the defense honest.
We're going to see teams pack it into a tight 2-3 zone and dare us to try to shoot over the top.

BC, the streak was broken over the last year or two - I can't remember the exact game. This is the second time under Cal that we failed to make a 3-pointer.
Okay, I looked it up. The streak ended in March, 2018, against Davidson. Here's the <boxscore>. [ 11-29-2020, 10:59 PM: Message edited by: PaulCat ]

The players with the most assists were Boston and Askew with 2 a piece followed by 1 from Clark and that was it.
