John Calipari has reportedly found his replacement for Kenny Payne.
Minutes after ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Payne had officially accepted an offer from the New York Knicks, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported that Indiana assistant Bruiser Flint was headed to Kentucky.
Flint – John Calipari’s longtime friend and former UMass assistant – is in his fourth year at Indiana and has more than 30 years of coaching experience. The Philadelphia native spent 20 years as a Division I head coach and won 331 games while leading Drexel (2001-16) and UMass (1996-01). He was was named Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year (2002, 2004, 2009 and 2012) and NABC District Coach of the Year (1998, 2007, 2009 and 2012) four times apiece.
Now, the veteran coach is reportedly headed to Lexington to join the likes of Tony Barbee, Joel Justus, and John Robic on Kentucky’s staff.
