# 4 DUKE trounces # 3 Kansas. It will be all the buzz in the sports world today and ESPN in particular. Pretty sure this will propel them to the #1 spot in all the polls, as it should. Norm, you need to control your bias against Duke on this as they have certainly earned the top spot. A win for the ages, as my buddy Dickie V will say.
Oh, UK won their opener against somebody.

HC, There is way too much truth in what you said here to be funny. It would not surprise me AT ALL if they don't leapfrog UK to number one!

Exactly, Norm. I don't usually watch ESPN much at all but I had it on early this morning since I didn't watch the second half last night, so I wanted to see what they had to say about UK beating the #1 ranked team.
All they could talk about was Puke's "miraculous" come back from 14 points down to beat Kansas. They gave the UK game maybe all of 2 minutes coverage.

The talk of the sports world ought to be the amazing game that Maxey had for us.
That kid can flat out score... DEEEEEEP threes, difficult floaters from the baseline, kissing it off the glass from an awkward angle from a drive... he is a baller for sure. His infectious enthusiasm is a huge plus for the team as well.
I really like this team. Sestina, Maxey, Hagans, Quickley, and Whitney would be my starters right now. They all play with poise and energy. Richards, Montgomey, Brooks and Juzang, and hopefully Allen would rotate in as necessary.

I hope Juzang picks it up on defense because I really like his offense. He could be huge down the stretch.

Looks like for the time being, some great experts who were telling us what a great change Hagans had made from last year. He hasn't delivered on that change a lot yet. I suspect that is because Maxie is really the one who has taken over. Let it never be said that Cal won't recruit over any current player, no matter how good he is. Ex: Hagans/Maxie. I like Hagans but he is going to have to pick it up and do it quick or he won't be projected in the draft.
Maxie took over the game in the second half last night and we would have not won without him. I am not sure where Richards and Montgomery are headed. They both make good plays but not consistently. Richards still picks up those silly fouls and gets a lot of pine time. Again, without Sestina we would not be much on the front line. He is consistent on offense and the boards.
The way quickly has scored makes it hard for Cal to use very many of the wings he has on the bench. We will have to play 3 guards most of the future games due to all 3 of them playing well enough. Richards and Montgomery may lose some time to these wings that can work the boards. I am not impressed with either big man. [ 11-06-2019, 02:33 PM: Message edited by: Bama Cat ]

Maxie's stat line looking good with 26 points, 5 boards, 53% from the field, 43% from the 3 point line, and 90% from the line.

Hagans defense is still a huge part of our success. He is so good on the ball, and I still think he is a very good point guard. His outside shot has shown some improvement, and I am sure he will continue to improve. The only thing I was disappointed in was when Cal started to have us just run that stupid circle play the last 5 minutes. If it wasn't for Maxey hitting those shots we probably lose. I hate that offense. We just pass around until 10 seconds left and then someone just has to create their own shot with about 5 seconds left. But we won the game. I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought we played great defense, and took care of the ball very well.

Maxey is there alfa,I really don't like Hagans and Maxie on the floor together, Hagans played well until Maxie came in, then he seemed to defer to Maxey and not look for his offence
