There’s no question on where Kentucky sits when it comes to it’s seat in college basketball history. When you consider all the titles, accolades and teams in their rich history, the Wildcats have placed themselves at the head of the table as one of the all-time programs.

KenPom released its newest ranking of their best college programs since 1997, and Kentucky is right near the top again as they ranked second.

The ranking is as follows:

Duke Blue Devils (+47.02)
Kentucky Wildcats (+45.07)
Kansas Jayhawks (+37.04)
North Carolina Tar Heels (+34.45)
Arizona Wildcats (+32.65)
Michigan State Spartans (+31.64)
Villanova Wildcats (+30.03)
Louisville Cardinals (+29.86)
Florida Gators (+29.56)
Texas Longhorns (+28.78)

What makes 1997 so special? Why the cutoff at that year? I'm sure if this was "best program since 1995", UK would win in a landslide.

I am wondering why a 22 year period also, usually you go with 10, 15, 20, 25 etc years !!! You can make stats say whatever you want them to if you pick the parameters !!! I am sure dook, uk, ku and UNC all could make a claim if they picked the years, hell even villanova could if it is the last 4-5 years.

MEL, your bias is showing. You used upper case letters for only ONE of those schools! [Big Grin] [Wink] [Razz]

Had they gone back one more year to 96 we would have one more national championship to add to that list which would have obviously put us ahead of mighty Dook.
