Box Score

17 turnovers, far too many. Much better second half defense, expecially against the three point shot. We outscored them 28 to 6 over the last ten minutes of the game. Ashton Hagans is a defensive player, hopefully he can get his offensive side of the ball at the same level, if and when he does, we will have a good point guard. He is the player that took Alonso out of the game in the second half.

Nice to see double-doubles for Reid and Johnson. PJ has hampered himself with foul trouble lately, but sill had an OK stat line (just not "PJ-esque"). Herro played a solid game, as did Hagans.

Our trio of returning players -- Washington, Green, and Richards, has become more like one-and-a-half. I hope that we see renewed effort from Richards, and that Green finds the right role for himself to contribute.

I believe we held them to 1-12 from the 3 pt line in the second half.

That 3 pt defense in the second half is pretty solid. WOnder why they can't guard the 3 line like that all of the time?

UNCG gave UK plenty of wide open threes in that game and UK just flat out missed them. UK's defense was tighter, but the UNCG made some threes, even when a defender had a hand out. Yes, UK played better perimeter D in the second half.

Cal claims that this is his best shooting team. He must be talking about practice, because I don't see it in games. Not yet, anyway. I thought they looked care free in the Bahamas, shooting the long ball. Since the season started, Herro especially, seems to have stage fright when shooting threes. He better get over it. if the team can hit their wide open threes, they can put teams away early, instead of late in the second half.

UNCG ranks 8th in the country with a 37.1 "3" point shooting percentage to our 35.4% which ranks 124th.
