Cal switching instead of playing a zone or straight up man to man is killing us. I hate his stubbornness.

Playing those six cupcakes over the last month did not prepare this team for a better caliber team. I just feel we do not have the basketball talent this season we are used to seeing at UK since Cal arrived. Guard play is terrible as is front line play. Travis has no shot other than a close in bank shot and is not a defensive presence at all. PJ Washington needs to show up and start playing basketball if he wants to ever see an NBA roster. He plays about one out of every three games or so. This is not a good ball handling, good passing team.
Norm, for some reason or another I just can't seem to get overly excited over this team and can't figure out why. I think it is that I fear we just don't have the talent to be a top tier team. We still do not have three point shooters and are not a very good defensive team. I feel we are in for another double digit loss season, very little if any improvement in any of the players on this team since the season started. [ 12-01-2018, 01:57 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

No way in Hell, should we be behind UNCG at halftime, but here we are. They are hitting threes at will, and driving to the basket whenever they feel like it. Three or four times this game, they have driven toward the basket and dished it off to the man under the basket for an easy layup.

The switching defense almost always hurts us. I have absolutely hated it over the years. We have only had a few players, or teams, that could do it really well. Most of the time against a good team they just exploit it to get the match up they want and then go to work. Giving up 6-8 on threes is not a good half on defense. We better start to figure it out, and hopefully the coaches will have us stop being lazy and switching. Just play good old straight man to man, hedge, and fight through.

Well put, this is not a good team and they are not coached very well either. We should however comeback and win this game in the second half.

By far, the worst game we have played this season, and maybe last season. They had three straight drives to the basket for a layup, or a dish and layup. Sad day in Kentucky.

Got the offensive rebound and had it taken away, all in one smooth move.

Norm, this team are both offensively and defensively challenged, everyone. Not one solid defensive player on this entire team. How many lay up variety shots have we missed today, a bunch??? [ 12-01-2018, 02:35 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

The on ball defense, as well as help side rotation in awful. I don't understand how guys can be rated high but not be able to stop the ball. I honestly think this team needs to play pack line defense. Keep the ball in front, and force a tough shot. We don't need to put so much pressure in the ball if you can't keep the guy in front of you.

How did so many people pick this team to make the championship. What were they seeing? And the coaches may need to use some different plays and defenses with this group.

Great point UK man, this team are no better than a sweet sixteen team talent wise. Kelden Johnson is our best player and the only one that plays with 100 percent effort on every play.

The officials gave Herro five steps on that last layup he made. I'll take it.

He and Keldon Johnson are our two players that do give it 100 percent all the time Norm. I like the kid, he does not leave his effort on the court.

They are the two on the team that deserve it Norm. PJ Washington just committed a dumb offensive foul.

Herro and Kelden Johnson won this game for us. Travis might have the most points and rebounds but when it came to needing offense and defense down the stretch, Herro and Johnson were the ones to put the team on their backs and carry them. Washington may have just got a flagrant foul, he deserves it. [ 12-01-2018, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

Travis has 22 pts, Herro and Johnson have 13 and 15 each, all coming late when we really needed them.

Box score Herro ended up with 18 points, 2 for 6 from behind three point line, both in second half. We held Alonso to 3 points in the second half, a big key to the win. [ 12-01-2018, 03:23 PM: Message edited by: SCWC ]

Ashton Hagan's played great defense on Alonzo in the second half. To hold them to 21 points in the second half was good too.
