he Kentucky Wildcats find themselves in the top five once again in another major preseason poll, as KenPom has the Cats at No. 2.
Kentucky was also top five in the USA Today Coaches Poll, ranking No. 4. They’re also fourth in the betting odds to win the National Championship at 10/1.
The only team ahead of Kentucky is Villanova. Arizona, Wichita State and Kansas round out the top five behind them. Conference rival Florida is ranked No. 8, the next-highest SEC team.
Ater that is Texas A&M at No. 15. Alabama also checks into the top 25, ranking 23rd. In-state rival Louisville is 16th.
Kentucky also ranks in the top five in both offensive and defensive efficiency in KenPom’s rankings, coming in at No. 4 for offense and No. 3 for defense.
Last year’s National Champion, North Carolina, is ranked 13th. And Duke, the preseason No. 1 in the Coaches Poll, ranks sixth.

How in hades can he calculate our offensive and defensive efficiencies, when we haven't played a freakin' game yet? NOTHING about this team can be predicted from last year's squad.
These pre-season polls are all non-sense, but with 'algorithmic rankings', like Sagarin or KenPom, you have to wait until at least 10-12 games into the season to get any sort of reasonable numbers. This is just madness.
