Perhaps Kentucky basketball’s scoring will be more balanced this season, like the 2012 national championship team or the 2014-15 squad that went 38-1.

Or maybe Kevin Knox, the 6-foot-9 shooting guard in a forward’s body, proves to be a basket-maker on par with Malik Monk and Jamal Murray.

If that’s the case, Knox will get more shots than anybody else. Here’s the history of players with the highest shot percentage (from Kenpom: percentage of a team’s shots taken while the player is on the court) during the John Calipari Era:

2016-17 – Malik Monk: 29.2

2015-16 – Jamal Murray: 28.8

2014-15 – Aaron Harrison: 27.0^

2013-14 – James Young: 25.3

2012-13 – Kyle Wiltjer: 26.0

2011-12 – Terrence Jones: 22.6*

2010-11 – Terrence Jones: 27.2

2009-10 – Boogie Cousins: 28.5

^ – 38-1 team, had eight players at 17.1 percent or higher.

* – national championship team, had six players at 18.7 percent or higher.

Knox will add an interesting dynamic to this year's team for sure. 6'7" and handling the ball out top and on the wing. His mere presence as a ball handler could open up the middle a lot more for Nick Richards and the other bigs.

I am hoping for a great shooting team this season - one that can spread the floor and light it up.

Knox is listed as a a 6 9 player which makes him very unique for playing a guard position. He will be able to create match up problems by posting up smaller guards down low creating defensive nightmares for most teams.

I sure hope he is not being over-hyped. We've had a few of those. I'm not saying he is, just hoping that is not the case this time.

He handles the ball like a guard. I realize these tapes are of highlights of the player being shown but he certainly does look extremely versatile and talented in that clip.
