It’s all about being ahead of the times these days in college basketball, and no man does that better than John Calipari.

His Kentucky basketball program is staying ahead once again, as with all the new stuff they’re getting at Rupp, they’re also getting a new interactive dribbling tool for the practice gym.

They demonstrated it yesterday, and Sports Illustrated took notice.

If you’ve ever played Guitar Hero, you can see the similarities between the two games Interactive video game or not, if it’s helping Kentucky players with their handles, it can’t be a bad thing, right? Johnny David certainly seemed into it as he demonstrated.

It’s always interesting to see how college and professional teams find new and intuitive ways to apply technology to their respective sports, hoping to gain an edge and improve their games. Maybe this kind of tool will help the Cats do just that, and maybe it even starts bringing this tool more popularity to the point the rest of college basketball adapts it.

After all, this wouldn’t be the first time Calipari has done something different that the rest of college hoops had to adjust to, though this doesn’t seem quite as revolutionary as the one-and-done super teams.
