Great to see us hold and enlarge our halftime lead; Monk rebounding; Fox applying some defensive pressure; moving the ball around; hitting 44% from 3; getting 10 offensive bounds; etc......but a couple of questions/comments:
how does someone as big and appearing quite strong as Bam have the ball stripped from him so often?
where was Wynyard?
does anyone know what is going on with Killeya-Jones? How does he not get into a game?

Cal has settled into hi standard tourney lineup. Think Jones will be departing at the end. His first thoughts of Virginia may have been a better choice.

I am absolutely puzzled by Calipari's player management. I could understand if we had a Cousins or Towns on this team, but Bam is so frustrating to watch and he does absolutely nothing special.
And in a game like last night where we're up 25 points with 7 minutes to go and our starting lineup is on the court - put in some of the players who don't play much!!! Cal waited until under 2:00 to go in the game to enter subs, and Jones and Wynyard remained on the bench. I was so pissed off last night that I almost turned the game off with six minutes to go.
I think I'm ready for a change at the top.

I absolutely loved the game last night. Much better defensive effort throughout the game, better offensive movement of players and ball, and we didn't run the circle play 100 times. My favorite thing was Monks play. He scored, he made good passes, didn't force too many shots, and he got 8 rebounds. I couldn't believe it. For me, that was his best game of the season. I know, he scored 47 against UNC, but this game he just played great overall basketball, and that is what I have been waiting to see from him.

I believe Coach left them in the game to work on "closing" the game for a change!! I am glad he did as we need that mmindset//

Bam's butter fingers can be fixed. He has done that in the past, but not as bad as this game.

I agree with Paulcat. I thought he should have put in true bench players earlier than he did. I don't believe teaching them how to "close" out a game in a blow out is a teaching moment. Might even be looked at as running up the score. [ 02-15-2017, 03:14 PM: Message edited by: handycat ]

Cal ranks his player in order of NBA possibility. If you are down the list like Jones and Wynyard you won't get much playing time. He doesn't have much time to train those down near the bottom. That's why I believe Jones is finished at UK.

Killeya-Jones shooting percentage 58.6% and he averages 2.1 boards per game in 6.4 minutes of playing time. [ 02-18-2017, 03:51 PM: Message edited by: catmandoo ]
