Coach John Calipari sent a scare through Big Blue Nation after Friday night’s win over UT Martin when he said Briscoe, who sat out the last two games following a nasty fall against Duquesne, would undergo an MRI “because they’re surprised it’s still bothering him, so let’s hope it’s clear for his sake.”
Turns out, there is a problem. Just not a worrisome one.
The MRI “showed a deep muscle contusion of the gluteus maximus,” a team spokesman told SEC Country on Saturday. That’s a bruised butt. Briscoe made the flight with the Wildcats to the Bahamas for Monday night’s game against Arizona State and is still listed as “day to day.”
That’s great news for No. 1 Kentucky (6-0), which hasn’t needed him in consecutive blowouts but will count on the sophomore starter’s leadership (and 18 points per game) as the competition cranks up this month.

In a late press Conf. Cal said Willis and Briscoe would both probably play in tonight's game!
