Wright State coach Billy Donlon could not say enough good things about Kentucky point guard Tyler Ulis.
All Ulis did was score a career-high 21 points and dish out five assists in 36 minutes of play in Kentucky’s 78-63 win Friday. He was 10-for-12 at the foul line and 5-for-9 from the field.
“Tyler Ulis never panics, he never gets nervous. He makes the right decision every single time. He doesn’t hit a home-run play unless it’s a home run. He never strikes out. When he comes off of a ball-screen, he never gets it wrong. And that’s really hard to guard. When he’s in transition, he never gets it wrong. That’s really hard,” Donlon said.
Ulis had his previous career high of 18 points in Tuesday’s win over Duke in Chicago. He says he takes pride in doing what Donlon described.
“I try to make the right decisions, find guys when they’re open, attack when I have it. Just try to make the right plays and do what I have to do to win,” he said.
