Poy is plenty strong and quick enough to be one tough power forward. This team is going to be awfully athletic and quick.

Calipari will return Poythress to the power forward spot he played as a freshman this year after trying to help prepare him for the NBA by playing him at small forward.

“What’s happened now, the NBA has gone to small ball, and he’s way big enough to be a four,” Calipari said during the podcast. “Some teams are playing fives (centers) that are his size. It’s crazy. So now, he’s more natural.

“We were trying to push him to the three (small forward), even though it wasn’t the greatest thing for our team, it’s what was right for him. Well, the thing has just changed. It’s been in flux, and now all of a sudden he can do it.”

Put Poy and Skal on the floor with Murray, Ulis and Briscoe and you have one quick team that can score. This team has lots of options.

Last season Cal played 10 players over 10 minutes a game.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm worried about Poythress. He was a high energy and athletic player, prior to his injury. He was not a player that was primarily good because of his basketball playing ability, i.e. ball handling and shooting.

I hope Marcus Lee worked hard this off season. As of right now Im relying on him to have the break out year. Poythress is going to have to find that energy and athletic ability again. He also needs to show us that he is not another athletic impact player that "could of been" if it weren't for his injury.

It stinks but thats how I see this one and unfortunately it couldn't of happened to a better kid.

Who, unfortunately I agree with you. Even at the start last year Poy was not handling the ball well off the bounce, which had never been a strength, and his outside shot was average. If he comes back as the same player he will definitely help. Rebound, get put backs, play tough defense, but he is just 1 of the keys. I really feel that Lee and Skal are the big keys. Can they give us enough presence insid on offense to make teams have to drop in some and open things up outside? They will also have to rebound very well. Can't get pushed under the basket and give up offensive boards. It will be a fun season, and should be fun to watch this team improve. That is what I always look for is the improvement from game to game.

These are my thoughts as well. A little production from Humphries or Wynard wouldn't hurt either. Thats if they suit up for us this year. Hope Hope! At the least they would provide the big bodies that Lee and Scal need in a practice setting.

Fortunately if Humphries signs to play this year we should have a little more presence under the boards.

He is big but is not very quick at all and doubt he will see that much playing time.

If and when we do sign Humphries we probably will over-take Duke for the best recruiting class in the country per this article.

Scout.com currently ranks the Wildcats’ 2015 commits as No. 2 in the country behind only Duke, but the possible (and probable) addition of Australian star Isaac Humphries could be enough for UK to claim the top spot once again for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.

“It certainly would depend on where Isaac Humphries would fall in the 2015 rankings,” Evan Daniels, Scout.com’s director of basketball recruiting, told KSTV on Wednesday’s show, “but I do think it would give [Kentucky] a pretty good chance to pass Duke.”

I'm sure he is trying to get his stuff in order for the upgrade to the 2015 class. Maybe he is taken a course, or two to finish the requirements.
