They are all taking one game at a time and are staying out of all the hype.

University of Texas-Arlington coach Scott Cross won’t be surprised if Kentucky runs the table this season, but freshman Trey Lyles forward isn’t buying into the hype.

“We just don’t really pay attention to it,” he said. “We’re just taking it game-by-game. We’re just going out there and trying to get every win that we can.”

The top-ranked Wildcats (6-0) concluded a stretch of three games in five days with a convincing 92-44 rout of UT-Arlington Tuesday night, ahead of the Thanksgiving break. Kentucky picked apart the Mavericks’ zone defense with balance scoring.

Lyles said the team is buying into the two platoon system and the reality of divided minutes between 10-12 players. Lyles said the team’s chemistry is allowing the system to work in the early part of the season.

“Everybody wants what is best for each other,” he said. “Coach is into it, and we’re into it. We’re into for each other and we’re just trying to go out there and play hard.”
