after working 49 years---i have decided i have worked enough--the company offered me a boss job that i flat turned down---then they offered a raise that was unheard of---i decided to call it quits---i did agree to stay until june to train my replacement.

Good for you! There comes a time when enough is enough. I hope to reach that day in a few years.
Have no regrets... and enjoy an active and fulfilling next phase of life.

I can relate, CC. My job is being outsourced to the Indians. They offered my a raise and retention bonus to stay on on work for the Indian company but I declined. 27 weeks of severance pay is too good to turn down. When you've had enough, you've had enough. Congrats on the retirement!
